The
objective of the series is to convey inanimate objects, particularly make-up,
nail polish and various other possessions females use, depicting the process
and after effects of the night and alcohol whilst alluding to going off to war
and the effects of war, within four to eight images. Using artist precedents
such as, Alex Majoli, Gilles Peress, Bruce Gilden, Jim Goldberg, Gueorgui Pinkhassov,
Patrick Zachmann, Werner Bischof, David Hurn, and Erich Hartmann, for inspiration
and guidance, the series will involve the techniques of colour filters and high
contrasting shadows to create moods and settings, extreme low and high angles
to dramatize scenes of intoxication/fighting, as well as crisp shots versus
burred ones to depict the effects of alcohol/fighting and time passing, also through
the use of mirror reflections different aspects of scenes will be revealed to
further narrate the series. The purpose of the series is to expose the nature of binge drinking among young females and the
consequences of it being acceptable in society. The target audience will be anyone who can relate to the story
being portrayed, no matter what age or gender. The story will revolve around
inanimate objects depicted as females preparing for a night out/soldiers going
to war (the war against binge drinking). Starting off with a clear organised
scene ready to be used/training for the war, the objects will gradually disperse
into scenes that represent social drinking and dancing/warfare, conflict will
occur when one of the objects goes missing/is captured, but then is returned
battered and bruised, the final scene revealing the destruction of the
night/war to conclude the story.
