Artist Precedents

I thought this image had an interesting aesthetic. Not only does it document the food consumed at the time but also the newspaper as an object that indicates the context of the meal to the viewer.

What particularly drew me to this image is the 1950's post-war America aesthetic with the checkered table cloth and high cholesterol food. This is an interesting way to document food and makes me think of how diets change over time and what is considered 'healthy'.

Another way to document meals is to consider not only what I eat but what other students eat, as -oligists conduct their experiments in more than more than one situation in order to be accurate in their findings. Therefore a more accurate representation of the typical 'student diet'.

If I was to expand the investigation further I would possibly look at other cultures. This would make the data collected more relative and possibly more interesting. However, with the time and resource constraints this idea may not be viable.
